Mentors and Inspirations in SoulCollage®

Are you familiar with the book The Hero's Journey by Joseph Campbell? He researched ancient myths, fairy tales, and stories and described how people develop during their inner journey. In many of these stories, a mentor or ally plays an important role: someone who helps you take steps in your growth. Within SoulCollage®, these figures become visible in what you might call SoulCollage® mentors: cards of people or sources of inspiration that represent guidance, support, or wisdom for you.

You see this reflected in modern stories as well. In the film The Matrix, Neo finds a mentor who helps him understand his path. In the book The Lord of the Rings, Gandalf fulfills such a role. Often, in our own lives, we also recognize people who inspire us, guide us, or serve as role models.

Who are your mentors and sources of inspiration?

Perhaps they are people you know personally, but they could also be writers, artists, teachers, thinkers, or other figures who touch something within you. People who give you direction, courage, or show you what is possible.

Take some time to make a list of people who inspire you. Who are your role models? Who helps you, even if only through their work or presence, to grow?

Sources of inspiration in your SoulCollage cards

When you work with SoulCollage®, you can categorize your cards into different groups. One of these is the Community Suit: cards of people, animals, or places that are important to you.

The people on your list also belong to this group. You don't have to know them personally to make a card for them. What matters is the meaning they hold for you.

You can create a SoulCollage card for each of them, using images that represent their energy, qualities, or influence for you. By reading these cards and working with them, you can, as it were, bring their presence closer and experience how they can support you on your path.

Exercise: letting a mentor or source of inspiration speak

Choose one person from your list who resonates most with you at this moment.

Find images that, for you, represent the essence of this person and make a card from them. Then take the time to read the card using the "I Am the One Who..." process.

Let the card speak from the qualities you recognize in this person. What does this mentor want to tell you? What direction do they point you towards? What strength do you see in them that can also be present in you?

Write down what comes to mind, without analyzing it. Often, you'll find that the card reflects something that already lives within you, but was not yet fully visible.

👉 Do you want to further deepen the different card suits, such as these mentor and inspiration cards? In the workshop journey through the SoulCollage® suits, you'll discover step-by-step how each suit reveals something different to you.
